The rebirth of men’s fashion is here, as the Spring 2019 collections proved by sound- ing a seismic change in the menswear land- scape. With debuts by Hedi Slimane at Celine, Virgil Abloh at Louis Vuitton, Riccardo Tisci at Burberry, Kim Jones at Dior Men, and Kris Van Assche at Berluti, the influx of “new” was accompanied by overall shifts in the way men approach dressing. Gone is the monolithic “man”—an imagined ideal dictated by gender and societal norms—and in his place is the call to embrace art and experimentation, as the VMan has done since the beginning.
The first cover of VMAN41 features Hero Fiennes Tiffin as "The Romeo", wearing Kim Jones's debut collection for Dior Men. Starring in After, the smash-hit YA adaptation hitting theaters in April, Hero prepares for leading man status.
Second in VMAN’s Forces of Spring is Charlie Heaton as "The Eccentric" wearing Givenchy by Clare Waight Keller. The pro-drummer-turned-streaming sensation chats with friend and director Miles Joris-Peyrafitte about bringing his “stranger” sensibility to sci-fi blockbusters, including an upcoming role in The New Mutants and the third season of Stranger Things.
Mark Ronson closes out VMAN’s Forces of Spring as "The Maestro," wearing Virgil Abloh's first collection for Louis Vuitton. After conquering Hollywood and more recently winning his first ever Oscar award with @ladygaga for “Shallow” as Best Original Song, the power producer’s next act is his most triumphant to date.
